The Heartleys together with their co-writing producer Roger Corbett have scored a place as a top ten finalists in the New Zealand 2010 MLT Songwiritng Awards.
Mike Hood, trustee‘s of the NZ Songwriting Trust says “the MLT Awards are highly regarded within the industry as an important platform to get songwriting recognised”.
Open to all songwriting genres and styles, the finalist entry from The Heartleys is ’Fine‘, a song written and recorded with Roger at The Valley Studio last year and a possible contender for The Heartleys next album.
Since the release of their debut self titled album in 2009, The Heartleys have been on a whirl wind of activity both in New Zealand and in Australia. Their current single, ’Leaving Home‘ is playing on Australian country music radio nationally, and is a song about the insecurities of leaving home for the first time. With ’Leaving Home‘ on the airwaves, it‘s a reminder that the duo will be leaving home for their first ever European festival performance later in the year on invitation from the The Halogaland Country Music Festival in Norway.
